The Joslyn Center of Rancho Bernardo, a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization, serves over 1,000 seniors annually from Rancho Bernardo and other North County communities. The Center's mission is to promote healthy aging and combat senior isolation through programs, activities and services. The center offers seniors of all ages a place to make new friends, participate in a variety of classes and programs, socialize and/or volunteer.
The Center has played a major role in enhancing the quality of life for seniors for over 17 years. It was founded in 1989 by the Marcellus Joslyn Foundation, which also founded a whole series of Joslyn Senior Centers in California. The Centers are not connected in any way, except that they share the same name. The Marcellus Joslyn Fondation was liquidated in 1998 and no further support was provided to RB Joslyn by the Foundation since that time.
Today the Center relies solely on modest membership dues, fundraising activities, events and charitable grants and donations for support. RB Joslyn does not receive any tax-based support for operating expenses.
